THE BAD-TEMPERED LADYBIRD

Eric Carle

I love a bad tempered little guy who really doesn't have a clue that he has no clout at all. So the ladybird flies his way through this book in a fuming hissy fit, challenging ever-increasingly larger creatures to a fight until he comes across a whale who doesn't give him the time of day. Saying that, the story sneaks the time and a clock into every page while drifting through animals. Humbled and hungry by the end, the rude ladybird has learnt a few manners.
The pages are cut to suit the animal sizes and also so the different clock times can be seen concurrently. The font gets larger as the animals get bigger. The design knack of Carle is always cool and spot on with keeping the pace.
